The Glory of a 3-day Weekend

All weekends should be three days – you need a day to get stuff done (laundry, grocery shopping, cleaning), a day for FUN and a day for sleep/bad television (i.e. Real Housewives of New York marathons).

Memorial Day 2009 did not disappoint thanks to a visit from my best LA pals and semi-nice San Diego weather.

A special shout out to just a few of the places and events that made the fun possible:
Las Hadas Bar & Grill ($1 tequila poppers and incredible guacamole)
Yogurtland (Pistachio mixed w/ tart pomegranate and mochi = heaven)
San Diego Padres (Swept the Cubs!)
Buon Appetito (Best restaurant in Little Italy…hands down)

And finally, who knew salsa dancing was so fun!? We attempted to bring out our Latin sides at Cafe Sevilla last night, though I am not sure any of us are ready for Dancing with the Stars.

Already lookin’ ahead to July 4th!

Cortez Hill

In case you care, Mike and I moved out of the “Dream House” last Saturday and into a quaint new apartment in Cortez Hill – located “above” downtown and Little Italy. We may no longer have a shower that could double as a car wash, but we are enjoying the new area. Our good friends John G and Ashton are around the block and have already introduced us to an awesome restaurant called Sole Luna Cafe. I hope to be on a first-name basis with them soon.

Dreaming of a San Diego getaway? We have an extra bedroom and bathroom, so friends and family are expected to come visit soon!

Living room shot – we have a fireplace!

Our kitchen – I swear we cook

Every girl needs her wine cabinet

Beds aren’t made so we’ll go ahead and skip the bedroom pics…but trust me when I say they are HUGE. Mike is also thrilled to actually have enough closet space in our room so that he no longer has to keep all of his clothes in the guest closet.

I like shoes…is that so wrong??

8:45am on a Saturday – why not start a blog?

In PR we research, evaluate and reach out to bloggers on a daily basis. A few years ago I started e-mailing with a woman who called herself HungryGirl. She loved Kashi and since we represent Kashi I figured, why not send a few boxes of cereal, right? Three years later, she has just released her second book, tours the country to meet thousands of fans, and is incredibly successful (and so so nice).

Blogs have fascinated me ever since, and every day that a blogger approaches us at work regarding a company we work with, I think to myself, I want to blog too!

Today I pulled the trigger and hope that Lex and Learn becomes exactly what it’s supposed to be…an outlet for my likes/dislikes, explorations, and random rants…a tiny little blog with absolutely no expectations or pre-determined road map.

I am inspired by emerging blogs like A New Block Party (hello – our nieces are precious!!), blogs I never want to be on (Bad Pitch Blog) and sites that no one ever imagined would explode like they did (DailyCandy).

So, welcome to my journey…I think I’ll go back to sleep now :)
