Addiction Revelations Take II

First it was Twitter. Now, another big ‘T’ has taken over my life – Twilight. I have proudly steered clear of other series such as Harry Potter because I never wanted to give into the hype…these are kids’ books for goodness sake! But while visiting family in Minnesota for Thanksgiving, I decided to buy Twilight to see what all the fuss was about.

I sit here, about two weeks later, already done with Twilight and New Moon. I used my lunch hour yesterday to go buy Eclipse from Target and I know I’ll need Breaking Dawn before Christmas. I had originally put Twilight on my Christmas list for my mom, and quickly called her to switch it to New Moon. A few days later I called back and said Eclipse, only to have to call again and say she better just get me the DVDs.

I never thought I would become “Twilight obsessed,” but I am – I really am. I love the storytelling and want, no NEED, to know if Bella will ever get to become a vampire herself. Just going to work is torture because I know I have at least nine hours between me and my Edward/Bella/Jacob fix.

Jackson the Great

Brag alert!

My nephew and godson, Jackson Christopher Anzalone, is the cutest little man on the planet. Hello! Those eyes, that smile, those moves…I am a very proud auntie.

Obviously good looks run in our family!

My Twitter Addiction

Hello my name is Alexis and I am an addict. It has been one millisecond since my last tweet.

Phew! Now that I’ve got that off my chest I feel much better…kind of. I got into Twitter because in PR you have to keep up with the latest and greatest social communications tools in order to survive. But what started as an educational exploration has grown into a deep obsession to check my feed, find influencers to connect with and update the world (also known as my 799 followers at press time) of “What’s Happening” in my life at that moment. Kind of sad, huh?

When I am at work and in my PR bubble, Twitter seems endlessly fascinating and “normal.” But, when Mike teases me for “tweeting” from my phone all weekend long and friends gasp at how many people follow me (I barely have ANY followers in the scheme of things!) and why anyone would care, I wonder…what the heck am I doing telling random strangers all about my day, current whereabouts and general opinions on ridiculous things like #Glee and #FlashForward?

I definitely don’t plan to DO anything about my addition—I’m not harming anyone, and professionally I’ve learned a lot from the people I follow. But, I just wanted to announce and recognize my addiction to my blog follower (yes, one – solo) because…well because I needed a new blog post damn it and my follower isn’t on Twitter!

XOXO Twitter Freak (did I mention I love Gossip Girl too? XOXO)
