Off to Boulder!

Well, our bags are packed and our cars look like we are moving to another state. But no…we’re just headed up US-36 to Boulder for wedding weekend!

I’ve promised myself and Mike that I would keep my social networking under control this weekend and during our honeymoon, so I am not sure when I will post next.

Until then, many MANY thanks for all the support and well-wishes during this exciting time.

xoxo

Wordless Wednesday: I will NOT get sick

Wedding Headquarters with Five Days to Go

…stealing a second for a blog post!

I thought we had every detail covered, and for the most part we do. But for those of you who have been through this already, you probably understand how many “little things” pop up when you are days away from the big day.

What are tonight’s projects aside from packing, pre-paying bills, cleaning and doing laundry? Organizing who gets welcome bags and where to deliver them, sending timeline emails to the wedding party and if you are our parents, assembling welcome bags, updating the budget and keeping the bride calm.

But the strange part is that I am actually enjoying it all. We’ve got a frozen pizza in the oven and a bottle of Malbec open. The Glee finale is recording and Kona is cooperating by taking a nap in the basement.

Life at wedding headquarters is good…

Friday Five in Family Pictures

We’ve been collecting photos from our friends and family to use in a DVD slide show at the rehearsal dinner next week. It has been such a blast to look through old albums, though the 1980′s really did harbor some not-to-be-repeated hair styles. I thought I’d share a few favorites from the “remember when” journey.

1.) I hope my mom doesn’t get mad at me for posting, but I love this one for two reasons. First, I am told that this was taken on the first day I walked on my own. I love that I walked for the first time in a yellow dress (an early warning sign of my extreme girly-ness as a child) and I really love how young my grandmother looks in this picture (striped dress). Her hair, her skin – stunning.

2.) I apparently loved dancing to this band at my aunt and uncle’s backyard BBQ, and was probably the own kid putting on a show. Little did I know everyone was certainly a few margaritas deep so my show was probably that much funnier.

3.) Early-80s, San Francisco vacation, perms and scrunch socks. Need I say more?

4.) My mom holding me at my baptism. I’ve always loved this picture…her eyes look gorgeous and I love her dress.

5.) I was born an entertainer. From the time I could walk I was putting on all sorts of silly shows for our family, which is why this picture makes me laugh.

Making Time for your “Third Eye”

Butterflykissesfairywishes.blogspot.com

When I am stressed I tend to skip the gym to get other things done…not really the best strategy for stress management. But today, just when I felt the urge to stay put and cancel my spot at 5:00 p.m. Yoga Sculpt, I reminded myself at how integral my new-found commitment to working out has become to not only my sculpted wedding dress arms obsession, but my mental health and well-being. In yoga we get to end our practice by connecting with the third eye. I used to think the spiritual aspect of yoga was a bit “out there,” but that feeling is starting to change. I do feel, and need, the centering that third eye brings and am starting to find myself reconnecting with that feeling throughout the day when things feel hectic.

Sixty minutes at Qi four to five days per week have become a safe haven. No one can call me, and once my phone is in the locker I am incapable of answering emails or sending tweets. It’s a wonderful feeling that each of us deserve, no matter what your own personal Qi space may be…an evening with your kids and husband, a long walk with the dog, an hour of sinful television without interruptions.

So, what’s your personal Qi?

Little Mike (aka Michael)

Mike’s sister made the very generous offer to put together a slide show of Mike and me through the years to show at various wedding weekend gatherings. Today she posted such a sweet blog about growing up with Mike (sorry Kelly, I just can’t call him Michael) and some adorable photos. I can only imagine how much she begged her parents to “take him back” when he first arrived, but what she could never have known at that young age is how she would become an absolutely wonderful big sister to Mike — a sister that Mike loves and looks up to more than he probably ever lets on or tells her directly.

Head on over to Kelly’s blog, Block Party, to check out her post and the pictures of Mike as a tiny toe-head.

In other news, our kids are going to have afros!

Friday Five: What I’m Coveting

…but cannot buy given our 16 days until the wedding budget. Oh well, that doesn’t mean I have to stop looking at beautiful things, right?

Wordless Wednesday: One Step Closer!

19 Days ~ What’s keeping me up at night

“Are you stressed?” “Are you excited?” “Are you overwhelmed yet?”

These are standard questions to be asked when you are just under three weeks out from your wedding day, and my answer is a version of yes to all these questions. Overall, I am excited. SO freaking excited to meet Mike at the altar, exchange our vows and then dance our butts off with our closest friends and family.

But, I’d be lying if I said I was sleeping like a baby, so here’s a glance at what wakes me up, like clockwork, at 3:30 a.m. most mornings:

  • Wedding day weather (we have a solid rain plan, but I really, REALLY don’t want it to rain)
  • A major vendor (such as the band) not showing up
  • Not having the alone time with Mike between the post-ceremony pictures and the reception that I keep requesting to eat a few appetizers, sip a glass of champagne and reflect on the fact that we are Mr. and Mrs. Anderson
  • Not getting to spend enough quality time with family and friends who have flown in from around the country to be with us
  • “The day-of timeline”
  • Being stressed instead of enjoying every moment (yep, I tend to stress about the possibility of being stressed…it’s a gift of mine)

Luckily I have a 19-day-left cheerleading squad who are helping me brush these worthless worries aside and remain excited about what is important.

But, at times I still feel the need to scream out…OH MY GOD WE’RE GETTING MARRIED IN 19 DAYS!

Happy Mother’s Day
