Our first meeting was nothing short of ordinary back in those CU Boulder (aka glory) days…our fate was sealed next to a keg of Keystone Light. Classy. Who knew that when Mike let me fill my red cup first, he would be setting in motion what has been—and what will continue to be—a journey filled with fun, laughter, travel, hard work, unwavering support, incredible friendships and loving families.
On May 30, 2003, one Keystone Light quickly turned into me convincing my friends to follow Mike to a concert. That was followed by Mike tracking me down and convincing his friends to meet me out at the bars for seven nights straight (hey, it was the summer before senior year)! Mike finally got my phone number on night number seven and we’ve essentially been together ever since.
College parties were eventually replaced by jobs and distance after graduation—Mike moved to San Diego while I got started in PR in Los Angeles. After a year of driving back and forth every weekend, I realized San Diego needed to be home and packed my bags for the less crowded freeways down south.
Nearly five years in San Diego brought us closer than ever. We discovered our mutual love for traveling, renovated a house while being filmed by HGTV (Mike), climbed the PR ladder (Lex), and took the leap to live together.
With the highs also came some lows, including serious family illness and the passing of my grandma, which is probably when we discovered just how perfect we are for one another.
On May 29, 2011, we shared very personal vows in front of our closest family and friends. It was the absolute best day of my life so far…and now we are laughing and learning our way through life as Mr. & Mrs. Anderson.
