Shoe Heaven

Zara offers online shopping. To date, I’ve been tempted but have kept my credit card safely tucked away. Until now (I predict). I can’t take the credit for discovering these gems. Per the usual, Vmac + Cheese is all over what is HOT and posted about these designs days ago.

Welcome to shoe heaven…right this way.

If I could pick one, it would be the flats. No wait, the color block wedges. Or the pumps? I really love the bright bottom on those pumps. Zara ~ you’re teasing this girl on a budget!!

Covet: Versatile Summer Tops

I consider myself very lucky to be able to wear jeans most days to work. It makes a huge difference in dry cleaning bills and overall ease/comfort throughout the week.

But every spring, as the temperatures start to climb, I find myself having the same issue in the morning…I stand in front of my closet and aside from my trusted cardigans, am at a total loss for spring/summer tops that are work appropriate. I purchase one or two every year, but I have to donate one or two each year too because they are so worn out–and the cycle of having only two or three warm-weather work tops perpetuates.

Denver has been unseasonably warm since early March so I am really feeling the pinch. On Sunday I allowed myself a few minutes with the new Anthropologie catalog (I try to throw it away immediately to avoid temptation) and fell in love with several items, including the blouse below.

At $78 it isn’t an outrageous purchase. and I am sure that it would get a ton of wear on weekdays and the weekend.

Thoughts? And, where else do you suggest I hunt for spring/summer tops that will not break the bank?

Friday’s Pin of the Week: Fashion

This summer we have two weddings to attend and I am already starting to think about what I am going to wear. One is in Santa Barbara and the other is here in Colorado. I hope to buy a dress that will suit both and am head-over-heels with this simple yet bold design. I am a sucker for one shoulder dresses and this color is stunning.

Friday’s Pin of the Week: Derby Flair

Our friends have finally convinced us to buy tickets to the Denver Derby Party. It is supposed to pretty rowdy, but we need to do it once right?

So now the hunt begins for a fabulous Derby hat!I love the color scheme of the one below, which I found on Etsy.

Although, the most economical choice may be a trip to Michaels for a hat, some flair and a hot glue gun.

Athleta Curiosity

I’ve received the Athleta catalog for years–since living in San Diego for sure, which was approximately two years ago. How many items have I ordered? Nada. For awhile I wasn’t working out enough to justify any new gear. Then, even once I got into a routine last year, I relied on a combination of Lululemon and Target because I pretty much hate shopping online.

But Lululemon is cost prohibitive and I also need to think about clothes for hiking, biking, running and other activities I hope to enjoy this summer outside of my typical gym classes during the week. So when the newest Athleta catalog arrived this week I sat down with it, and read it cover to cover.

Where do they find those models? I love that they aren’t stick thin and I would kill for any of their arms. I think the catalog inspired me to trade yoga for kettlebells on Wednesday. I also talked to a few coworkers (and Twitter friends) about the clothes and everyone raved about the fit and quality. Now I am super intrigued.

Here are a few items I’d like to purchase soon…

Friday’s Pin of the Week: Boho Chic

It has been gorgeous in Denver and the warm weather is making me peek at my spring and summer clothes hidden in the back of my closet. And, I am already finding a few “holes” in my wardrobe that I hope to be able to fill through some smart saving strategies.

One such missing closet staple are long, breezy skirts and dresses that can be dressed up or down all summer long. This beauty is no steal, but it has stolen my summertime fashion heart. It is so effortless. It is boho perfection.

Thank you Sequins & Stripes for discovering and sharing such a gem!

The Dreaded Cold

I came back from Austin with the dreaded tickle in my throat. I went to bed early, took NyQuil, drank tea and thought by last Friday that I had outsmarted the bug. I proceeded to enjoy the weekend as usual, with a little extra St. Patrick’s Day excitement, and have come to realize that the little bug outsmarted me.

Colds are the ultimate annoyance. You aren’t sick enough to justify a day in bed, but sick enough to feel like total crud. Everyone has their go-to cold cures. Mine include questionable doses of DayQuil, NyQuil and Claritin-D to relieve the pressure. I combine that with tea, Emergen-C and super hot showers to again, un-stuff my miserable head.

Between my 5pm – 7pm “nap” and 9pm NyQuil bedtime last night I aimlessly trolled the web for healing inspiration. I mean, if you have to be sick, wouldn’t it be nicer to be sick in style?

Some under-the-weather inspiration…cozy PJs, soup in a beautiful bowl and plenty of cozy throw blankets.

Friday’s Pin of the Week: Fashion

Even before we bought our house I seriously began to curb my “this is cute” and “I need this” shopping impulses…so much so that I literally cannot think of more than one item I have bought myself in recent months in terms of clothes (aside from a few workout items).

Instead, I lust over outfits on Pinterest and contemplate when I can truly treat myself to a spring/summer mall run.

One area I constantly struggle with is weekend wear. I just don’t have much in this department, which is why today’s Pin of the Week is of a killer neutral pairing that could go day or night on Saturday and Sunday.

Lovely Goodies at Nordstrom

Since buying a house I have really tried to avoid the mall. I do not want to buy anything I regret or tempt myself with all the lovely goodies that live (and should stay) inside my favorite haunts.

But I found myself at the mall Wednesday night for a quick, last ditch effort to fill a few wardrobe gaps prior to South by Southwest Interactive in Austin. I only bought one top but could have dropped quite a bit more…a LOT more in fact.

If Nordstrom were to invite me on an unlimited shopping spree tomorrow, my grab bag might look something like this…

Sigh, I need to do a little more saving until any of these beauties can come home to my closet!

Are you saving for one big spring fashion purchase right now?

Friday’s Favorite Pin of the Week

I have nowhere to wear this dress, and I’d need to buy a tanning salon membership in order to pull off this shade of neon pink. But those minor details did not stop me from drooling over this ridiculously hot look all week. It makes me wish I had a tan and that we were escaping to Mexico for a snow bird weekend.

I guess that’s why it is my “Pin of the Week!”

Could you, and would you, try to pull off this neon backless wonder?
